Princess

My brother has an enormous dog named Princess. I am not sure of her breed. When I visited 6 months ago, Princess was about half of her current size and had not yet grown into her paws.

Now if we sit down side by side, she’s a head taller than me. On all fours, she’s about the same height as my 4 year old niece and her head is taller than standard height counter-tops.

Since she’s less than a year old, she’s still all puppy. And now my niece wants Princess to come inside. Time out on writing this.

Of course Princess’ size and puppy-like activity makes her somewhat scary for the kids. They like to watch someone else play with Princess from a distance.

Today my nephew got close enough so that he could have his picture taken. (My niece has learned how to use the camera and it is the new favorite toy.) Princess strained around and licked his foot. It only takes one Princess kiss to get the majority of the foot and leg totally covered in doggy slobber. (I’m fairly certain Princess negated the bath that Jayden had just finished.) Doggy kisses caused Jayden to panic and bolt for the other side of the room where he could watch in relative “safety”.

For my part, I got whacked in the chin a few times.

Princess is a really smart dog. She has learned how to open the sliding glass door. No one warned me of this and yesterday my brother left without locking it. Pretty soon Princess was inviting herself in. Not that I can blame her all that much. It’s a lot cooler in the house than out in the dog-house (which is bigger than some of the play houses in Tiny Town).

Princess has also figured out that the trampoline is more fun than the ground. Yesterday she hopped up (not really much of a trick for such a tall dog) and began chasing her tail while bouncing on the trampoline. It was really quite funny to watch. Too bad I didn’t get video of that one. You’d laugh to see her bouncing in circles trying to catch her own back end.
