Every day my son is supposed to read for a certain amount of time as part of his homework for school. I bribe him to read out loud because it helps his comprehension and fluency.
Right now he’s reading a book that tells stories of big name athletes in history.
This morning he was reading about one character who was cut from his high school team. The book said something like, “But he kept practicing and the rest of the story told by history and record setting in the NBA.”
My son read this and said in a rather surprised voice, “That’s what you always make me do!”
“What’s that?”
“Practice!”
(Had to try not to laugh as I said, “Yep; get back to practicing your reading.”)
