This weekend Paul, Rebecca, & I drove down to
El Paso for our friends’ Wayne & Yeni’s wedding reception.
Actually, Paul did all the driving.
Rebecca and I were a bit spoiled in that we didn’t really have to pay attention to the road much at all.
The highlight was certainly celebrating and spending time with our friends. Dinner, dancing, watching the children chase lights, and listening to Wayne’s grandmother tell stories were fun. Everyone was very hospitable.

A few random things we learned on the trip:
Belen, NM is “The Hub of Enchantment”.
A decisive civil war battle was fought in Glorietta, NM, which is a town where one must travel Route 66 in order to access a gas station.
There’s a highway in southern Colorado called “The Highway of Legends”. We never figured out the legends for which that Las Animas County highway is named.
In New Mexico there is a rest stop that has only picnic tables with benches and garbage cans. Each picnic table had a bench only on the north side of the table.
